Triphala is an Ayurvedic herb originating in India, has been found to act as a complete body cleanser. It also helps in healthy bowel movements. The name triphala literally means ‘three fruits’- Haritaki (Gallnut), Amalaki (Gooseberry) and Bibhitaki . Triphala churna is the herb in its powdered form.

This amazing herb has been used in Ayurvedic medicine in India for thousands of years. It is not only a powerful laxative and cleanser; it is also used to treat cardiovascular diseases like high blood pressure and ulcerative colitis. If used regularly, it helps in rejuvenating and detoxifying the liver and blood.

For best results, triphala churna should be taken with water. 2 to 3 grams of the powder should be dissolved in 16 ozs. of lukewarm water and had before retiring for the night. In case it seems too much to drink at one go, the mixture can be separated into three smaller doses and had 30 to 60 minutes before a meal throughout the day.

Triphala is considered as ‘tridoshikrasayana’; balances and rejuvenates the effects of three elements (vata, pitta and kapha) in the human body. Triphala churna has reference in the ancient Indian texts like Charak and Shushrut Samhitas.
